They say the container is the best invention of the last century. This is partly due to the standardization: containers are available in fixed sizes, which makes selection easier. There are three standard sizes:
● 20 foot
● 40 foot
● 40 foot high cube
Below, we indicate the external and internal dimensions as well as the maximum loading capacity for each standard size. Hopefully this will help you choose the right container.
The 20ft container has become more and more popular in recent years and not without good reason. Due to its size, this container is particularly suitable as a storage place in places with limited space. Since the 20ft containers from Eveon have CSC certification, they can also be used for transport and are accepted by shipping cowpanies.
A 20ft container has the following dimensions and weights:
External size (mm) Internal size (mm) Weight (kg)
Length: 6,036 Length: 5,898 Max. loading capacity: 28,300
Width: 2,438 Width: 2,362 Unladen 2,180
Height: 2,591 Height: 2,393 Max. weight: 30,480
Note: weights may differ as the containers come from different factories.
A 40ft container is about twice the size of a 20ft container. This type of container is used a lot for transportation or storage when there is enough space. In recent years, the 40ft high cube container has become increasingly popular so that the availability of 40ft containers is slowly decreasing.
External size (mm) Internal size (mm) Weight (kg)
Length: 12,192 Length: 12,032 Max. loading capacity: 27,160
Width: 2,438 Width: 2,352 Unladen 3,320
Height: 2,591 Height: 2,393 Max. weight: 30,480
Note: weights may differ as the containers come from different factories.
The 40ft high cube container is roughly twice as long as a 20 foot container but is also higher. Therefore, this container is the model with the most space in our offer.
The 40ft high cube container has become more popular than the 40ft container due to the additional space and its height.
External size (mm) Internal size (mm) Weight (kg)
Length: 12,921 Length: 120,34 Max. loading capacity: 26,820
Width: 2,438 Width: 2,352 Unladen 3,660
Height: 2,896 Height: 2,698 Max. weight: 30,480
Note: weights may differ as the containers come from different factories.
H2: Buying a new or a used container?
Once you’ve found the right size, the question remains whether you want to buy a new or used container. We would like to provide you with some information so that you can make the right choice.
It can be seen immediately that used containers have been used. These containers have got dents from years of travel and there is also rust on the surface. All used containers are partially painted and repaired by us so that they again meet the strict requirements to be used for transport.
Due to the CSC certification that you receive for your container, the container is also accepted by shipping companies.
The advantage of used containers is their lower price. If you would rather have a container in an aesthetically better condition, a new container is the right choice.
In addition, different colours are available for new containers. The opposite applies to used containers: since shipping companies sort by quality and not by colour, it is unfortunately not yet possible to select a container colour.
As you may know, almost all containers are built in China. A new container that you buy in Europe has already experienced one crossing. This is why these containers are also called “one trips”.
By loading the container once and thanks to the resulting transport to its destination, we can save transport costs and also avoid the transport of empty containers and the associated CO2 emissions.
Different colours are also available for new containers. In our offer, you will find the most popular colours at your location. Can’t find the colour you want? Then let us know and we will check whether we can add this colour to our range.
