The people behind Eveon Containers - Aliaksandra Bakhoryna: A global citizen with green intentions

Someone who needs nothing but a laptop and stable internet to work can work when and where he or she wants. Perfect for someone like Aliaksandra Bakhoryna, Product Owner at Eveon. We show how she will soon be working with Belarusian developers from Greece for a Dutch company - and making the world a little better every day in the process.

The sea is blue, the sun is shining and there's a gentle breeze. That's the view from Aliaksandra's workplace, and the impression from her balcony, which she's also used on occasion during a video conference. As this article is being written, she is currently working on the Greek island of Crete, but who knows where she will be in a few months. Born in Belarus, she doesn't stand still for long: after completing her education in mathematics and computer science in Belarus, she is drawn to faraway places for the first time. She receives a scholarship to study for an MBA at the Rotterdam School of Management in the Netherlands. Now optimally educated, she works for several large corporations and gains experience in building and designing online stores and websites. She also built Eveon's online store. "It's my baby," Aliaksandra says today with a laugh.

The biggest challenge is doing everything at the same time

"My job is to make developers understand what we need for our website so that our customers can use our store as easily as possible," Aliaksandra explains her job. To do this, she works with teams of developers, always checking user data and seeing what can be improved. "The biggest challenge is doing all the things at the same time," says Aliaksandra. "I have to make a lot of decisions under time pressure so that our developers can work. In the process, of course, I always consult with the team, but often the final 'go' is up to me. And as it always happens, we never have enough time." When Aliaksandra talks about it, however, you can quickly tell from her tone that this is exactly what makes her job exciting and what she enjoys about it.

Success through processes and psychology

To balance her daily work, Aliaksandra likes to be out in nature. Now in Crete, of course, she loves being by the sea, but she also enjoys hiking elsewhere to clear her head. "I am really happy that I can work so flexibly also from Greece. That's not a given!" she says herself. It is probably the mix of a globetrotter's free thinking and a penchant for psychology and processes that makes Aliaksandra successful in her job. "We recently designed a new payment process from scratch in half a day. The whole process from start to finish. Today we see that customers are using it and we get good feedback from them," Aliaksandra tells us, "I really enjoy that about my job."

Thinking ahead sustainably

In the future, Aliaksandra's team is likely to expand. The goal is to use her network in Belarus to find more developers for Eveon there as the online store continues to grow. However, Aliaksandra doesn't just have her career in mind when it comes to her work: "I'm very sustainability-conscious, even here on the beach in Crete I collect trash, even though it's not my beach. I also always wanted to create something sustainable at work. The fact that I'm now helping to make the container business climate-neutral is something I didn't expect a few years ago, of course, but it makes me all the more happy."
